Nuhash Palli (নুহাশ পল্লী)

Nuhash Palli (নুহাশ পল্লী) is located in Piruj Ali (পিরুজ আলী) village of Gazipur (গাজীপুর) district which is the largest village in Bangladesh. Late fiction writer Humayun Ahmed (হুমায়ূন আহমেদ) established this natural landscape Nuhash Palli in Gazipur near Dhaka. Hotapara (হোতাপাড়া) market is 12 km away from Gazipur intersection. 8 km away from there is Nuhash Palli in Piruj Ali village. Suddenly a piece of clean garden in the middle of the forest. Calm benign environment. Above litchi, jam, and olive tree symbolize peace. A carpet of green grass below. Like a piece of Shanti Niketan. Here lies Humayun Ahmed, the legendary writer of modern Bengali literature.

What is there in Nuhash Palli?

There are 250 species of rare medicinal, spice, fruit and forest plants. Visitors can identify the trees through identification plates hanging on the tree. Small houses are built on a big tree in the middle of a green field. On the eastern side of the garden is a palm garden. On one side of the garden is a state-of-the-art house called “Bristi Bilash” (বৃষ্টি বিলাস). Another attraction of Nuhash Palli is “Lilavati Dighi” (লীলাবতী দীঘি). Different types of trees around the lake. There is Sankadhano (সানকাধানো) Ghat. An island in the middle of the pond. There are many coconut trees.

Apart from this, one can see Humayun Ahmed’s tomb, Padma Pond, stone mermaids in the lake, imitations of prehistoric animals, a large swimming pool designed in an organic form, portraits of chess pieces, tea houses, etc. All kinds of beautiful architecture. This garden house has three bungalows, including Bhoot Vilas (ভূত বিলাস) and Bristi Vilas.

Way to go to Nuhash Palli

If you want to go from Old Dhaka, take Dhaka Paribahan (ঢাকা পরিবহন) bus from Gulistan which goes to Kapasia (কাপাসিয়া) and Prabhati (প্রভাতী) bus which goes to Barmi (বরমী) from Banasree (বনশ্রী), if you want to come from Mahakhali (মহাখালী), take Samrat Line (সম্রাট লাইন), Rajdoot Paribahan (রাজদূত পরিবহন) bus. Now you can get down at Hotapara and go to Nuhash Palli by CNG, Laguna, or rickshaw.

Ticket prices and timetables

Nuhash Palli is open to visitors throughout the year. No weekly closures. Open daily from 8 am to 5 pm. Open to general visitors till Maghrib Azan on special request. In Nuhash Palli, the entry fee per person above 12 years has been fixed at Tk 200.

However, on two days of the year, November 13 (Humayun Ahmed’s birthday) and July 19, the death day, Nuhash Palli is open to all. No ticket is required to enter these two days.

Cost

It is open daily for all visitors from April to November. A maximum of 300 people can come in 1 group for a picnic every day. 60,000 Taka for a picnic on public holidays. 50,000 Taka on other days. Apart from this, the rent of educational institutions for picnics on public holidays will be 50,000 Taka, and on other days of the week, the rent will be 40,000 Taka.

Accommodation

There is no accommodation in Nuhash Palli. Everyone has the opportunity to relax in the bungalow named Bristi Bilash. But to spend time in Bhoot Vilas bungalow will require 3000 to 5000 Taka.
